Richard Broussard Inducted into the 2024 Lafayette Bar Association Hall of Fame
UPDATED 7/11/2024- Richard C. Broussard, a founding partner at Broussard, David & Moroux, focusing in personal injury practice, has been selected for the Lafayette Bar Association (LBA) Hall of Fame class for 2024.
Broussard’s induction into the LBA Hall of Fame is a recognition of his exemplary career as an attorney, dedicated service to the community, and participation in the Bar. The Lafayette Bar’s recognition also states the purpose is to award those attorneys and members who exemplified the Lafayette Parish legal community’s rich tradition of producing highly skilled lawyers and community servants.
“Richard is our firm’s North Star. The way he practices law—his unwavering pursuit of justice; his attention to detail; his integrity—embodies the standard by which all of us here at the firm measure ourselves. This well-deserved honor means that the community sees Richard the way we all do here. We are so proud of him.” said Jerome Moroux, partner at Broussard, David & Moroux.
In addition to his induction into the LBA Hall of Fame, Broussard was awarded the Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by the Louisiana State Bar Association in 2004 for his Pro Bono Services. These include helping the towns of Broussard and Youngsville create their framework for basic traffic and misdemeanor laws and serving as Youngsville’s judge for two decades. He has also volunteered as Probation Monitor for the Office of Disciplinary Counsel to rehabilitate deserving practices.
Broussard has participated in numerous committees such as the LSBA House of Delegates and Board of Governors, the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association (now LAJ) Board of Governors (served as the LAJ Aviation Chair for many years), and the Louisiana Intrastate Air Carrier Board. Broussard led as chairman for both the Lafayette Regional Airport Commission, and the LAJ Board of Governors. He served as president of LBA during its transition from just a shoebox of papers and a checkbook into a physical office with a staff that combined the Lafayette Volunteer Lawyers, the Lafayette Public Law Library, and the LBA (then known as the Lafayette Parish Bar Association)
After 50 years of practice as an attorney, Broussard continues to lead as a founding partner at Broussard, David & Moroux while impacting the community with his involvement. Broussard has worked alongside his wife, Kathy, who has been the office manager since the start of the firm. Together, they have three children, six grandchildren and continue to proudly serve at Broussard, David & Moroux.
Kathy shared this message regarding Broussard’s induction, “Richard, congratulations on your success! I saw you work hard every day and I admire you for your focus and determination to get the best outcome for your clients. You are an inspiration to your family, friends, partners and associates! With love, Kathy.”
